New Zealand Visit - Hamilton 2009
In October the National President Glynis Hayne and her husband state Secretary Doug attended the National Spring Championships and Convention at Hamilton, New Zealand. Glynis was full of praise for the hospitaly show to her and Doug by their hosts and she was extremely impressed with organization of both formal and social aspects of the weekend. Overall the roses are bigger than those in Australia and this is mainly due to the cooler climate. It was noticeable the show bench was made up of a good percntage of locally bred roses. A local rose of particular interest was the Brian Attfield bred Sir Tristan which was voted the New Zealand Rose of the Year at the Pacific Rose Bowl and won Champion Display Vase at the National Championships.
