Morwell Centenary Rose Garden

World Federation of Rose Societies Award of Garden Excellence 2009

Forming the western entrance to the Morwell Business District, Civic Centre, Art Gallery and the Justice Precinct is the spectacular Morwell Centenary Rose Garden, one of the foremost rose gardens in Australia.
The garden proudly showcases about 3000 thousand roses in manicured beds edged with paving stones, complementing the magnificence of the entire garden.
This community project is a continuing work undertaken by the "Friends of the Rose Garden", volunteers and sponsors with the generous support of Latrobe City Council.
There are 4 acres of gardens, imaginatively landscaped with manicured lawns and over 100 beds in which are planted some 3000 roses, drawn from a professional selection of 260 varieties of recent hybrids and traditional favourites.
Among these are species, heritage, floribunda, tea roses, hybrid teas, miniatures, polyantha, rugosa, rambler and pillar roses.
There is also a cascading rockery of David Austin modern shrub roses and a sunken garden planted with recent Delbard releases.
