Ralph Moore, DHM

Sadly, the rose world has lost one of its finest champions. Ralph Moore passed away on Monday, September 14th 2009 at the age of 102. Universally acclaimed throughout the world as ŌThe Father of Modern Miniature RosesĶ, for his herculean contributions to the development of modern miniature roses.   There can be no doubt that the palette of colours and diversity we all enjoy today are attributable to Ralph Moore.

All literary attempts to sum up this diversity and depth of Ralph MooreÕs contributions to the development of modern miniatures have always lacked several necessary ingredients for his great success - human perseverance, overwhelming desire, persistence and above all else the talent to dream.   Ralph Moore was often compared to the great musical composers - he has brought to life many great compositions that will transcend the rigors of time.   His place in rose history is well deserved.  His modest character, however, will only admit to having played a significant role.   Miniature rose enthusiasts from all over the world will mourn his passing but will be constantly reminded of his lifetime of achievements every time they walk in the rose garden of life.

Yours sincerely
